In January 2014 at Gumselasa School Parents Open Day we presented a full set of 90 framed wipeable educational posters supporting the local curriculum Grades 1 to 4 to the school. Present were the Directors of all eight schools we have built and many senior local dignitaries from the Regional & local Administration & Education. National & Regional media gave good exposure - including TV. Now the posters are being fixed in all other schools. At this event EYES Circus entertained a large crowd & the local community provided typical refreshments. £ 4,500 funds for this initiative will be provided by a donor.
On Sat 19 Oct 2013 Professor Kindeya, President of Mekelle University opened our ninth community rural school built by EYES, the implementing partners of A-CET. Metego School, built to a high standard, furnished and with mains power installed cost £150,000. It was built in eight months using paid community labour. Metego has places for 800 students in eight grades and will be run by the Education Bureau, with no fees charged. The ceremony was attended by many senior dignatories and entertainment provided by the EYES Circus & Cultural Dance Troupe with traditional food provided by the community. EYES Student Coach Haftom Desta accepts Mekelle City League Cup for his winning EYES under-14 team. Our Under-16 team came third. Haftom, the youngest coach was also awarded “Top City League Coach” and a place on a Coaches Training Course.
At Mekelle University's 21st Commencement, for the very first time in its history, an Honorary Doctorate was awarded to A-CET's Founding Chairman and CEO as "Doctor of Community Services honoris causa (DCS)". A singular honour indeed and an appreciation for all our work supporting education in Ethiopia over the last 16 years.
After 10 years as our student and five years at Adama University, Nazret; disabled Kokeb graduates as an Architect with a GPA of 3.43. He has been appointed as a tutor at the University next year. Our congratulations for his hard work and perseverance.

Youngest circus member - 11 yr old Grade 6 Meweal. Not only good at circus but 3rd in his class. The circus gives him self confidence, a sense of worth & builds team spirit
With over five years of A-CET support these 14 year olds are healthy, happy, bursting with self confidence and yes full of smiles. All are from challenging backgrounds, five years ago it was a different story
